How to Fill Out the China Arrival Card
Words and photos by Sseoz
Hi there.
Let’s head out again today—
with travel blogger Sseoz.
With visa-free entry making China travel more popular than ever,
a lot of people are getting ready for trips to China.
You may not need a visa anymore,
but you still do need to complete an arrival card.
And it’s no longer just the old in-flight paper form
you used to fill out on the plane.
Starting in November 2025,
you can submit it online in advance.
So today, I’m breaking down
the easiest way to complete the
China arrival card online
on either a PC or your phone.
China Visa-Free Travel Prep Checklist

Before your trip to China begins,
one of the smartest things to prepare ahead of time
is the electronic arrival card.
You can enter your details in advance
through the website operated by the National Immigration Administration.
The online form is completely free.

Recently, though, there have been fake websites
charging fees to “help” fill out the form,
so make sure you’re using
the official National Immigration Administration site for China.
Besides the official website,
you can also use the NIA 12367 app,
or the WeChat and Alipay mini programs
to complete it.
Now let’s go through the process step by step.
How to Fill Out the China Electronic Arrival Card

Once you go to the official site,
you just enter your information one field at a time.
Every single detail you enter
must match your passport and flight booking exactly.
Even one mismatch can cause unnecessary hassle, so be precise.

Fill Out the China Electronic Arrival Card

Select the Arrival Card Menu
Go to “入境填报”
or choose the “Entry Declaration” menu.
Tip If the page opens in Chinese, switch it to English first.

Enter Your Passport Information
Fill in your passport number, full name in English, and date of birth,
along with your nationality, gender,
and the rest of the information
exactly as shown on your passport.
A single typo can turn into a headache,
so I highly recommend entering everything while looking directly at your passport.
Enter Your Flight Information
Add your flight number,
departure point, and arrival city in China,
along with the details for this trip.
For the flight number,
just copy the one listed on your ticket exactly.

Personal Information and Visa Details
Enter your country of birth, contact number,
and your personal details.
If you’re entering
a Korean mobile number in international format,
choose +82, remove the first 0 from 010,
and start with 10 instead.
If you’re traveling on a standard Korean passport
and your trip qualifies for China’s visa-free entry policy, then
select “Visa-free.”
Even if China is visa-free for your trip,
that does not mean you can skip the arrival card.
Enter Your Accommodation Address
You’ll also need the address of your hotel
or wherever you’re staying in China, plus a contact number.
Tip Copy the address directly from your hotel booking platform.

Review Your Information and Submit
Double-check that
everything you entered is correct.
Especially review your passport number, English name,
flight number, and hotel information
one more time before submitting.
Then just follow the on-screen instructions
to do the final confirmation and submit,
and you’re done with the electronic arrival card.
What If You Didn’t Fill It Out in Advance?

If you weren’t able to complete
the electronic arrival card before departure,
there’s no need to panic.
After arriving in China,
you can still scan a QR code at the airport or immigration area
and fill it out online there.

You can also use the smart devices available on site,
or fill out a paper arrival card
the traditional way, which is still allowed.
So even if you didn’t do it ahead of time,
it doesn’t mean you’ll be denied entry to China.

That said, once you land in China,
connecting to the internet, looking up your hotel address,
and rechecking your passport number
can eat up more time than you’d think.
If possible, I definitely recommend completing it in Korea before you leave.
