Seoul Silver Grass Festival
Words & photos by Sseoz
Hi there,
and welcome back to another trip with
travel blogger Sseoz.
If you’re looking for one of the best places to see silver grass in Seoul in fall,
Haneul Park is always at the top of the list.
And this year,
the 25th Seoul Silver Grass Festivalis
set to return in October.
From the festival dates to the highlights
and even the best time of day to go,
here’s a full roundup.
1. When is the 2026 Seoul Silver Grass Festival?

This year’s Seoul Silver Grass Festival
runs from October 17 to October 23, 2026,
for one full week.
The festival takes place around
Haneul Park in Seoul World Cup Park, and
Haneul Park is already
famous for its sweeping silver grass fields every fall.
During the festival,
it gets even better with performances, hands-on activities, photo zones, and night lighting,
making it one of Seoul’s signature autumn festivals.

According to the official announcement this year,
an opening ceremony,
experience zones,
photo zones and wish zones,
busking performances,
and a park photographer exhibition
are all planned.
2. What’s worth seeing at the Haneul Park silver grass festival?

Personally, I think the Seoul Silver Grass Festival
is best when you do more than just walk one lap around the reeds and leave.
The real highlight is seeing
the silver grass in daylight, sunset, and the illuminated night scene
all in one visit.
This year’s official festival intro also lists
the night lighting show and scenic illumination
as major attractions.

In the daytime, you can wander slowly through the shimmering silver grass fields
and stop for photos,
then at sunset,
take in Haneul Park’s wide-open sky and glowing evening views,
and after dark,
enjoy the lit-up silver grass fields.

This year as well,
photo zones, a five-senses zone, and busking performances,
experience booths, a resource-circulation market,
electric bus tours, and park commentary tours
are expected,
so it looks like a great pick for a date or a family outing too.
Last year also featured nighttime media art, scenic lighting,
and hands-on programs,
so this year should have that same feel of a festival
that really continues into the evening, not just the daytime.
3. What time should you go?

If it were up to me,
I’d aim to arrive around 4 to 5 p.m.
That’s my top recommendation.
If you go around then,
you can see the silver grass in daylight, catch the sunset,
and stay until the lights come on,
which means
one visit gives you three completely different moods.

Haneul Park in particular
has such an open view
that the light filtering through the silver grass around sunset
is especially beautiful in photos.
If you want to stay for the evening programs too,
I wouldn’t go too late.
Arriving 1 to 2 hours before sunsetis probably ideal.
The detailed lighting show schedule for this year
should be checked on the official website
before you go.
4. How to get there and what to check before you go

Haneul Park in Seoul
does not allow you to drive all the way to the top.
You’ll need to either walk up from below
or take the Maengkkongi electric vehicle.
By public transportation,
you can take Seoul Subway Line 6 to World Cup Stadium Station
or Mapo-gu Office Station,
then head toward Haneul Park.
Based on last year’s official guidance, the walk
takes about 40 minutes.
When I visited,
budgeting around 30 to 40 minutes
felt just right.

If you’re driving,
you can park near World Cup Park
and then take the Maengkkongi electric vehicle.
That said, during the festival
it gets seriously crowded,
so I definitely recommend using public transportation if you can.
Since Maengkkongi electric vehicle fares
and the detailed 2026 operating hours may change,
check the official Seoul Parks website before your visit.

If you want to really soak up
that crisp autumn atmosphere in Seoul,
you honestly don’t need to travel far.
The Haneul Park Seoul Silver Grass Festival is more than enough.
Especially in 2026,
with the night lighting show, photo zones, and hands-on programs
all expected to run together,
it should be an easy and fun outing
whether you’re going on a date or with family.

Personally,
I’d time it for late afternoon
and enjoy it in this order:
silver grass, sunset, then night lights.
Once you pick your date,
just check the official schedule
one more time before heading out.
