Gimpo Airport Domestic Flights Guide: Check-In Time, Parking, Dining & Facilities

Gimpo Airport domestic terminal

Hi there,
and welcome back to another trip with me—
travel blogger Sseoz.

I end up using the Gimpo Airport domestic terminal
more often than you’d think,

and every time, I find myself wondering:
how early should I get there? Where do I check in? Where should I park?
There are actually quite a few little details that can get confusing.

I’ve had to look them up myself more than once,
so I figured this was the perfect time to put everything in one place.

1. How early should you arrive for Gimpo Airport domestic flights?

According to the official Gimpo Airport website,
the cutoff time varies a little by airline,
but in general, check-in is available until 30 minutes before departure.
That’s the standard guideline.

But honestly, that’s the absolute last-minute cutoff!!

If you arrive at the airport only 30 minutes before your flight,
and you have baggage to drop or you’re not already using a mobile boarding pass,
it can feel way too rushed.

Once you factor in check-in, baggage drop, and security,
it’s much better to give yourself a cushion.
On weekdays, I’d recommend arriving 1 hour early.
On weekends or during peak travel seasons, 1 hour 30 minutes early

feels like the safest bet.

On the Gimpo Airport website,
you can also check the estimated wait time
for the domestic departures area in advance,
so if you’re traveling on a weekend or during a busy holiday period
and feeling a little nervous,
it’s worth checking before you head out.

2. What floor is check-in and baggage drop on?

For the Gimpo Airport domestic terminal, check-in
is on the 2nd floor departure level.

Flying domestic?
Head straight to the 2nd floor first.

Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air,
Jin Air, Air Busan, Air Seoul, EastarJet, and more
all have their counters here.

Counter locations can change
depending on the day, so make sure to check once you arrive.

If you’ve already finished mobile check-in
and you don’t have any checked baggage,
you can go straight to security.

If not, use the kiosk in front of the counters
to print your boarding pass first,
then complete check-in at the counter.

3. Gimpo Airport domestic terminal parking fees

If you’re driving to the airport,
you’ll usually use Domestic Parking Lot 1 or Parking Lot 2.
Those are the main options for domestic flights.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the parking rates.

Category

Rate

First 30 minutes

about $0.70

Every additional 15 minutes

about $0.40

Mon–Thu, per 24 hours

about $15

Fri–Sun & public holidays, per 24 hours

about $22

On weekends and long holiday periods,
the parking lots fill up really fast,
so if you’re bringing your car,
I definitely recommend checking parking availability before you go.

You can also use the official Gimpo Airport website
to see real-time parking availability and even make a parking reservation,
so keep that in mind.

4. Gimpo Airport domestic terminal facilities

If you end up with some awkward extra time before your flight,
you’ll probably want to know what’s actually inside the airport.

Here’s a simple breakdown.

Restaurants, cafés, and convenience stores

Most of the restaurants and cafés
are concentrated on the 1st floor of Gimpo Airport.
There’s also a food court, so it’s easy to grab a quick meal.

Even after you pass through security,
you’ll still find simple snack spots, cafés, and convenience stores,
so no need to worry.

Just be careful with drinks you buy before security—
you can’t bring those through!!
Drinks purchased inside the secure area after screening,
however, can be brought onto the plane.

Emergency document printing

I really recommend taking care of this before you arrive.

Even on the Gimpo Airport website,
it’s not clearly stated where general passengers
can access a printer.

If it’s truly urgent, you could try asking the information desk for help…
but realistically, that may be difficult.

The front door you see in the photo also leads to a smoking room! (toward the subway station)

Smoking areas

1st floor arrivals level: Gate 2, Gate 6
2nd floor departures level: Gate 1, Gate 4
3rd floor: no smoking room
4th floor restaurant area/observatory: outdoor smoking area by the observatory

Just so you know,
there is no separate smoking area after security!!!

Restrooms

Restrooms are available on every floor
and near the boarding gates too, so they’re easy to find.

They’re also clean, spacious, and honestly one of the nicer parts of Gimpo Airport.

5. Gimpo Airport duty-free shops

Did you know Gimpo Airport has duty-free shopping?
That said, you can’t use it when flying domestic…
the duty-free stores are inside the international departures area.

If you’re flying internationally from Gimpo Airport,
go through immigration on the 3rd floor of the international terminal,
and you’ll be able to shop at Lotte Duty Free and The Shilla Duty Free.

You can also pick up items
purchased in advance from online duty-free shops when departing on an international flight from Gimpo Airport.

If it’s your first time visiting Gimpo Airport,
it may feel busier and more overwhelming than expected,
but as long as you give yourself enough time, it’s really not difficult.

Especially on weekends or during peak travel seasons,
parking and security lines
can take longer than usual,
so I definitely don’t recommend cutting it too close.

Have a great trip~
